Mom’s Creton

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground pork
  • 1 ½ tsp minced or mashed garlic
  • 1 large onion, minced
  • 1 tsp salt/pepper
  • 3 tbsp bread crumbs
  • 1 c. chicken broth
  • Spices (rough amounts)
    • 1 tsp allspice
    • 1/3 tsp nutmeg
    • 1/3 tsp cinnamon
    • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • ½ c. milk
  • 1 tsp soy sauce

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients in a saucepan
  • Bring to a low boil on medium-high heat, then turn down to low heat and simmer, uncovered, until most of the liquid is gone, roughly 2h (consistency similar to risotto).
  • Cool down and refrigerate for up to a week. Consistency should be that of a rough paté; thick but spreadable.
  • Serve on toast, on top of mustard.
